ISPA

ISPA (Higher Institute of Applied Psychology) established in 1962, is the oldest school of Psychology in Portugal. ISPA’s training programmes encompass: an Integrated Master’s Degrees in Psychology (3 fields – Clinical Psychology, Social and Organizational Psychology and Educational Psychology); 3 undergraduate programmes (Rehabilitation and Social Integration; Community Development and Biology); 4 Masters programmes (Psychocriminology, Health Psychology; Community Psychology and Psychobiology) and two doctoral programmes (one in Educational Sciences in association with Nova University of Lisbon, and another in Psychology). Teaching is supported by 60 full-time faculty members (70% with PhD’s) and by the collaboration of other national and international scholars. The 3 U&D research units (Cognitive, Developmental and Educational Psychology Research Unit, Eco-Ethology Research Unit and Health Psychology Research Unit) maintain a high level of collaboration with an international network of partners from European and American universities. They support a great number of research studies and continuing training for young researchers, thereby internationally promoting Portuguese research. ISPA’s research projects have been financially supported by the FCT, BIAL and European research consortia in the Framework Programme of the European Commission. As a support for its research groups, ISPA provides the Psychology Lab, the Psychological Assessment Center and the Biology and Neuroscience Labs with multiple resources.
